- Lipperheide 4699; WorldCat (3 copies). A collection of 12 issues of Le coiffeur Européen, a monthly magazine devoted to fashionable hair-styles, which appeared from 1865 to 1877. Most plates show 5 different hair-styles, with the name and address of their creator, and accompanying text in English, French, and German. Many of the hairdos depicted were created by the publisher, Loisel, and his wife, who owned a fashionable hair salon and a florist's shop in the Fabourg Poissonnière, Paris. The journal further features short articles (many written by Loisel himself) and advertisements. The journal is a rare and interesting record of 19th-century French hair fashion, which often set the style for Europe as a whole.Binding soiled and rebacked, hinges weak. Otherwise in very good condition. [Attributes: Soft Cover]
