Letters from B.A.C. (Afghanistan 1878-1880)
London: J Davy, 1880. First. Full Leather. VG. 212 pp, ill (incl maps). Letters written by the author during the Afghan Campaign. Maps show positions of troops. Inside it is written that ONLY TWENTY COPIES have been printed. This is the printer's copy with the printer's bookplate inside front cover AND a letter from the author to the printer saying how pleased the author is with his work (and enclosing a cheque for the work). Internally clean and crisp and sharp. Binding is full red leather, and there is some scuffing and the rear hinge is starting. The book enclosed in a full red leather folding clamshell case, felt lined, with raised spine bands. Rare and a fine presentation of what must be considered a most important work.
