- Original master print, titled: 'Der Kesselflicker'. It shows a tinker is appraising the damages of a copper pot. He is watched by a woman and her oldest son, while two other boys are playing a little ways off. A pumpkin is in the foreground, as well as some other pots. Hand coloured lithograph on a vellin type paper. Description: Original antique master print, published in 1836. Our definition of a Master Print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters.Artists and Engravers: Lithographed by Hanfstaengel after a painting by Van Mieris. Frans van Mieris (1635-1681) was a Dutch Golden Age portrait and genre painter. He was the leading member of his family of painters, also including his two sons and grandson. Franz Seraph Hanfstaengl (1804-1877) was a German painter, lithographer and photographer. Condition: Good, given age. Vertical brown bands over the sheet (not visible in the image), well visible on the rear. Some repaired tears in the margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional light soiling from handling.
