Folio, leaf size: 298x195mm.In contemporary dark-tan calf with elaborate blind-tooled borders on boards, accentuated in black, and two yellow-metal clasps.Spine with six raised bands, blind outlined, and chipped lettering-piece with title manuscript.Dark brown silk book-mark loosely inserted.All edges washed blue.First part: [8], 288 (i.e.283), [1] pages (p.283 mis-numbered 288); signatures: [4], A-Z6, Aa4.Second part: cclxvi, [2] pages; signatures: a-x6, y8; the last leaf is blank; colophon at end of second part reads: ?Tornaci, Typis Adriani Quinque Typographi Iurati, sub signo sancti Spiritus.Anno M.DC.XXII?.Paste-downs and free end-papers dusted.Book-plate: 'Ex libris Monastery [of] St Augustinians Ramsgate' on front paste-down with some accession numbers.Half-title with minor ink-marks near foredge.Title-page in red and black with attractive woodcut device.Text in red and black throughout.Occasional minor edge repairs without loss.Ink smear on pp.cii and ciii, not affecting legibility.Manuscript note in French in foredge margin of p.ccxxxvii.Attractive head-pieces and decorative initial capitals.Crisp, clean and tight with sharp, bright musical notation and illustrations.A splendid copy in its original binding.(Further information and photographs available on request.)
