El Pardo, Spain, February 15, 1736. 11.5" x 17". "Manuscript DS ""Yo el Rey"" (""I the King"") of Philip V as King of Spain, 1p, 11.5"" x 17"". El Pardo, February 15, 1736. In Spanish, not translated. Countersigned ""Patiño"" as First Secretary of State. Blind embossed paper seal, 2""- diameter, affixed on verso on filing portion. Minor separation at edge of mid-horizontal fold. Mounting strip at blank edge on verso. Fine condition.King Philip V references Vincent Cardinal Gotti (1664-1742) as ""my beloved friend"" and is joyful for the Capelo (Cardinal's hat) that he ""granted to the Infante Don Luis...""Jose Patiño served as King Philip V's first First Secretary of State from 1734 until his death on November 3, 1736. He was in effect, Prime Minister. During the time he signed this document, he participated in the laborious negotiations with England in relation to the disputes between the two countries over their commercial and colonial rivalries in America."
