London, Sands and Company. 1899, 1899. First Edition. 8vo. Publisher's dark blue cloth decorated and titled in red and white. Cloth slightly darkened and a trifle rubbed to extremities but showing remarkably well, an attractive solid book. Inscribed by the author's both pseudonymously and with their real names to Samuel Garcia Asher, whose bookplate graces the pastedown in all its armorial glory and who in addition to being a fellow of the Royal Zoological Society and a notable book collector also lived in Berkeley Square just a couple of doors down from Maggs Brothers.
