Game of Star Authors [The First State In the Original Box and Complete with 64 Cards and Instructions]
New York: McLoughlin Bros., 1875. No Edition Stated.. In the Original Box.. Very Good +. Thirty-two of the card faces carry an author image and the authors depicted are Nathaniel Hawthorne, William Cullen Bryant, Charles Dickens, Wilkie Collins, Bayard Taylor, Edward Everett Hale, John G. Saxe, Josh Billings, Shakespeare, Lord Byron, Schiller, Sir Walter Scott, George W. Curtis, R. W. Emerson, Benjamin Disraeli, Victor Hugo, J. Russell Lowell, John G. Whittier, Washington Irving, William H. Prescott, J. Fenimore Cooper, Oliver Wendell Homes, William M. Thackeray, Anthony Trollope, Henry W. Longfellow, Alfred Tennyson, John Lothrop Motley, George Bancroft, Mark Twain, Artemus Ward, John S. C. Abbott, and James Parton. McLoughlin Brothers was the most successful publisher of the game until Parker Brothers began to produce its version in 1897. A Very Nice set of this popular game, complete with … [Click Below for Full Description]
