Paris, Chez Frederic Leonard, 1669.FIRST EDITION 1669, French text, ex library copy ( Birmingham Medical Institute) with small pale ink stamp to title page and following page and folding plates, mostly in the margins, not affecting images. 4to, approximately 250 x 190 mm, 9¾ x 7½ inches, woodcut vignette on title page, 5 folding engraved plates, pages: 1 - 120, attractively rebound in modern full calf, contrasting red and green gilt lettered labels, gilt decoration to spine, blind decoration to covers, new marbled endpapers. 4 plates have small repairs to the blank side and 1 plate has a closed tear which runs into the image, repaired on blank side, no loss of image, title page and text dusty with pale age - browning, a few margins slightly dusty, several tiny nicks to edges of pages, title page has tips of both corners missing, 3 other corner tips missing, apart from the small ink stamps, no other library markings, a good copy.
