ISHIMOTO, Yasuhiro
Chicago, Chicago
Tokyo: Bijutsu Shuppan-sha, (1969). A fine copy in silver-stamped black boards, in a nice example of the fragile photo-illustrated publisher's slipcase, worn at the foot of the opening (small stain), with the well-preserved yellow publisher's obi, lacking the card insert and original tissue overlay.. First Edition. Square quarto in slipcase. Foreword by Harry Callahan. Text by Shuzo Takiguchi. Layout by Yusaku Kamehura. Beautifully conceived, designed, and printed. While the influence of Ishimoto's teacher, Harry Callahan, is evident here, there is no mistaking Ishimoto's virtuosity, both as a photographer and a book maker. Certainly the finest Chicago photobook ever published. (Parr / Badger, v1, 289).
