FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, 1629. small 8vo, approximately 155 x 100 mm, 6 x 4 inches, LACKING ENGRAVED PICTORIAL TITLE PAGE, now supplied in acceptable facsimile, letterpress title present, 38 illustrations in the text, those in the geometry section being diagrams, those in the fireworks sections being copper engravings attributed to Wenceslas Hollar, pages: [8 of 16], 1-214, 217-261, [5 of 11], LACKING 2 BLANK LEAVES AND 2 LEAVES OF TEXT IN THE PRELIMS, LACKING 1 LEAF OF TEXT (PAGES 215/216), AND THE LAST 2 LEAVES OF THE CONTENTS TABLE AT THE END AND THE FINAL BLANK, pagination erratic in places, but collated and text guaranteed complete apart from page 215/216 and prelims as mentioned, bound in modern quarter calf over marbled sides, raised bands, blind rules and gilt lettering to spine, new endpapers. Title page and first 5 leaves have palr brown stain at lower corner, not obscuring text, 2 other small light stains to title page, some pale damp staining throughout, a few other small stains, no loss of text, small closed tear page 21, neatly repaired with no loss, small worm track from page 67-165, mostly in lower margin but affecting text slightly in places, almost all still easily legible, small piece missing from 1 lower corner, fore-edges have been slightly unevenly trimmed in places, top edges also, occasionally shaving page n … [Click Below for Full Description]
