Two volumes uniformly bound in contemporary full-leather with matching gilt lettered title pieces within spine compartments; firm, square and very presentable in nicely polished condition; contents very clean and tight, not showing any pen-marks and with no loose leaves; all plates present and in very good shape, bright and sharp; also, this copy not from a library so no such stamps or labels; size: 8vo (215mm x 130mm); collation: pp. x, [2], 288, [8] index; 312, [8] index, 1-[92] A Revisal of the Work, and [25] leaves of plates. Provenance: from the collection of the 18th-century naturalist and scientist William Constable, F.R.S., F.S.A. [1721-1791], with his personal bookplate at the front pastedown of both volumes. A very good set indeed with a notable provenance. Scarce.
