James Buchanan Writes about Political Maneuvering 1851
James Buchanan (1791-1868) was a few years away from becoming the 15th U.S. President when he wrote this political letter. "You are right in regard to the Delegates from Lehigh. No attempt ought to be made to instruct them. They will find Brodhead (U. S. Senator from Pennsylvania) a broken reed . . . he has made himself despicable." 10" x 8" archivally matted with a portrait to 15" x 20".
