1899. Hardcover. Otherwise very good condition. General Stuart Heintzelman (1876 - 1935), West Point Class of 1899, served with the 4th Cavalry in the Philippines, and later as part of the international force suppressing the Boxer Rebellion in China.After service in the Philippines, Heintzelman returned to Fort Leavenworth as an instructor; he later taught at Princeton as Professor of Military Art and Science. The general was awarded Commander of the Legion of Honor and the Croix de Guerre with palm (France), the Commander of the Order of the Crown (Italian), and the Distinguished Service Medal. The USS General Stuart Heintzelman (AP-159), was named in his honor and launched in 1945. Heintzelman's album includes 96 photographs all taken at the military academy and captioned, including: the cavalry drill grounds; Fort Clinton; "A" Company; Battery Knox; Highland Falls N Cranston's; Trophy Point; corps passing in review; Cadet Barracks; and numerous portraits of other cadets in the class of 1899.
