Amsterdam Schenk Peter - Valk Gerad 1708. World. Eastern Hemisphere. "Hemisphaerium Orbis Antiqui, cum Zonis, Circulis, et Situ Populorum Diverso". Orig. copper-engraving from A. Cellarius' 'Atlas Coelestis, seu Harmonia Macrocosmica' (first published by Janssonius, 1660). Orig. old coluring. Published by P. Schenk and G. Valk in Amsterdam, 1708. With decorative border with many cherubs, ornamental two-part title cartouche in upper corners, inset diagrams showing armillary spheres and climatic zones in lower corners of the map. 42:51,5 cm (16 1/2 x 20 1/4 inch.). A very decorative map of the Eastern Hemisphere. - Andreas Cellarius (1596, Neuhausen -1665, Hoorn) was a Dutch-German cartographer. - Old green colour (Europe, Africa) oxidated with some cracks (without the loss of picture) - expertly restored.
