1885-1886. [4], 280, [3], 96 p., 21 pls, 2 maps, small folio (29 x 38 cm), red hcloth with two black labels (ca. 1900 binding - original printed covers bound in). Plates with a faint, unobtrusive waterstain at the upper edge affecting the first figures, some slight foxing in blank margins. It has the ex libris/bookplate of the famous French carcinologist Jules Bonnier and his intertwined initials are stamped in gilt on the front cover, proving that it was bound for him personnaly. Rare. Den Norske Nordhav's-Expedition was an expedition who researched northern European waters, between Norway, Shetland, Iceland, Greenland and Spitsbergen. All reports from this Expedition are extremely difficult to find and are seldom offered for sale. This report deals with all crustaceans from Copepods, Amphipods, Isopods etc. to Decapods. Georg Ossian Sars (1837 - 1927) was a famous Norwegian marine taxonomist. Sars described many new species of mysids and ostracods. His fields of research included various branches of fishery research. Jules Bonnier (1859-1908) was a pupil of Prof. Dr. A. Giard, and was a specialist in the parasitic isopod family Bopyridae.
