Apollinaire, Guillaume]; [Matisse, Henri]; [Picasso, Pablo]
Catalogue des oeuvres de Matisse et de Picasso, Exposées Galerie Paul Guillaume. 108, Faubourg Saint-Honoré à Paris. Du 23 Janvier au 15 Février 1918
[s.n.], Paris, 1918. First edition. Printed on laid paper, untrimmed as published. One bifolio. Scarce catalogue for the first exhibition of Matisse and Picasso, with the introduction of Apollinaire. The exhibition in Paris at the Paul Guillaume Gallery in 1918 was the first collective show of Matisse and Picasso, which was the initiative of Apollinaire. Besides the introduction of the artists by Apollinaire, the catalogue contains the list of the twenty-eight exhibited art pieces (twelve by Matisse and sixteen by Picasso). Apollinaire (1880-1918) was one of the twentieth century's most important art critics and poets. He recognised Matisse (1869-1954) and Picasso (1881-1973) as the greatest artists of his time. We could trace only five copies in institutional holdings, one of them in America. Paper slightly discoloured due to ageing. Light white stain on the title page at the upper right corner. Otherwise in fine condition. Printed on laid paper, untrimmed as published [Attributes: First Edition]
