1610. Antique Master Print, untitled. A peasant with his hands folded on his back. Engraving on hand laid paper. Description: Late 18th/early 19th century impression. State: State: VII (7). Ref: Hollstein 21, Godefroy 21. Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Adriaen van Ostade' after own design. Born in Haarlem in 1610, Adriaen van Ostade trained with Frans Hals. He remained in this city for the rest of his life and died here in 1685. Very influential artist, who had pupils like Cornelis Bega, Cornelis Dusart and Jan Steen. His etched work consists of 50 prints, all with genre subject matter. Condition: Very good, given age. Margins cropped close to the image edge. Nice tonal impression. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: GV-C1-34 The overall size is ca. 2.6 x 3.5 inch.
