Gleanings From Nature: A Series of Twelve Etchings, London: Thomas McLean, 1874. Folio, 10 plates (2 lacking) about 10x14 inches or 25x35cm, beveled red cloth boards with gilt lettering and decoration, black rules inside a black box. The plates are separated from each other by a leaf with a title and a brief verse and then another leaf, which is blank. Youngman, 1817-1899, here produced country scenes representing the area in which he lived, the artist says. That would be Saffron Walden in Essex, England. The missing plates are No. 4, The Abbey Farm, and No. 7, Hay Time - Audley End Park. The full list is shown below. This set is very scarce in the market, and Worldcat locates only 3 in institutional libraries, all in the U.K. See Catalogue of Prints, National Art Library (Great Britain), p. 362. Condition of this book: Covers darkened, stained and worn; leaves loose with some internal marks, images fine. Size: Large Folio (bigger than A3). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is loose but fully intact. All edges clean, neat and free of foxing. Quantity Available: 1.
