1980. Black & White Photograph Inscribed and Signed on the left side of the image, <b><i>"To Ted / Muhammad Ali"</i></b>, in black felt pen, 1p, 8" x 10", [1980]. The Muhammad Ali signature and date at the bottom of the photograph is a facsimile. Fine condition.<div><br></div><div>Although Ali announced his retirement from boxing in June 1979, he reversed his decision in order to fight the new heavyweight champion, Larry Holmes, in October 1980. It is believed Ali was suffering the early stages of Parkinson's Disease at that time, but he was nonetheless medically approved to fight and would lose the match after eleven rounds of relentless pounding. After losing in a unanimous decision to Trevor Berbick, Muhammad Ali retired for good in 1981 with a record of 56-5.</div><div><br></div><div>Pre-certified by James Spence Authentication (guaranteed to receive full certification if submitted to JSA by buyer at buyer's expense).</div>
