WYATT, Claude.
British Birds: being coloured illustrations of all the species of Passerine birds resident in the British Isles, with some notes in reference to their plumage.
London Wesley 1894 - First edition. 2 volumes, 4to., 67 hand-coloured lithographed plates by Mintern Bros after drawings by the author, coloured by the Misses Sharpe, contemporary half calf gilt, lightly rubbed, an excellent set. Mullens and Swann call this work "probably the best 'working' book of illustrations: the artists have avoided the too common fault of over-colouring the birds figured." The author thanks the Misses Sharpe for the "perfect way in which they have carried out the painting for me." Nissen IVB 1027; Fine Bird Books, p.116; Zimmer, p.694; Mullens & Swann, p.667 [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
