Spécimen Genéral
1900. TURLOT, A. Spécimen Genéral de la fonderie Turlot, Henri Chaix, gendre et cie. 7, 15, 128, 8, 7, 8, 12, 183, 48, 20, 8 pp. Folio, 315 x 242 mm, bound in publisher's light green cloth, black printed lettering, art-nouveau border on cover. Paris: Fonderie Turlot, ND [1916]. A splendid art nouveau specimen book by one of the leading French type foundries, it was first published around 1900 and subsequently reissued several times. The date of this copy is based on a date in the back of the book. With its imaginative layout and use of colour printing this is one of the most spectacular type specimen books we have had. The specimens include an array of fonts demonstrated in several sizes and perhaps most wonderful is the section on vignettes which include a cornucopia of art-nouveau design. Rare with OCLC listing one only copy each of the editions from 1903, 1905, 1910, 1913, 1914 and 1916 worldwide. Without pp. 5-8 in the third section as in other copies examined. With some light water staining and some wear to the binding, still a very nice copy. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
