1645 1ed RARE Francis Bacon Augmentis Scientiarum Philosophy Science Technology “Some books should be tasted, some devoured, but only a few should be chewed and digested thoroughly.” Francis Bacon Francis Bacon, one of the most famous English philosophers and scientists of the Renaissance. While most of his work deals with discovery, scientific method, and the scientific revolution, he did lean strongly toward Puritanism in his personal devotion. An extremely rare printing of Bacon’s “Augmentis Scientiarum”. According to Willems, the 1662 printing is much more common, however, “There is an earlier edition of this work, no less attractive [than the 1662], it seems to be printed by G. van der Marse (not Elzevier).” Willems also notes that Elzevier printed the complete set of Bacon works that his book comes from in 1662 (Willems 1157, 6*), but that edition was taken from this 1645 printing! This book discusses the advancement of science and technology in the early 17th-century.
