Heraldic manuscript containing the coats-of-arms and genealogy of the Van Halle family and their related families.
"Southern Nertherlands, late 17th century. Folio, full vellum. Ca. 200 pages, handwritten. Hand painted title page with the motto 'Festina Lente'. Illustrated with numerous hand coloured portraits, coats-of-arms, drawings of monuments and stained glass windows. The drawings are possibly made by the 18th centruy heraldic artist Pieter Jacob Muller. The genealogical entries span the Medieval times. This lot comes with a letter d.d. 6 June 1595 concerning Johan van Halle; a 17th century sheet with several hand coloured coats-of-arms; a further drawing of a hand coloured coat-of-arms. The following families are mentioned in this manuscript, with their respective coats-of-arms depicted: Van Halle, Van Capelle, Sweerts, Swaeft, Taye, Van Nederhem, Van Waelhem, Van Doerne (Doorne), Mulaert, Stellinck alias Yselmuyde, Pots van Utrecht, Vos, Haestrecht (gesproten uijten huijse van Arkel), Wijck, Van Santvliet, Van der Donck, De vriese, De Beer, Colibrant, Berwout, Van Heffene (Hessene), Hoots, Sompeke alias Sgorters, Halmael, Van de Mortere, Van Muijsen, Boeydens, Cruijminghen, Charloys dit Van Weste, Van der Hulst, Van Dale, Van Huerne, Van Stockem (Stochem), Rosmael, Miccaert (only coat of arms), Lombaerts, Van Nethenen, Pinnocx, Roeloffs, Lobs.
