'Verlag des Geographischen Instituts', 'in Weimar, Germany., 1800 [1797]. original hand-colour copper engraving from two plates. Large and attractive map from "Allgemeiner Hand-Atlas der Ganzen Erde.." pl. 45; The simple cartouche states that the map was drawn according to the latest observations and designed at the Seeberg Observatory in Gotha, an internationally acclaimed study centre, with scientifically advanced instruments. Reinecke (1768-1818) was a scientist and polymath who spoke many languages and worked in a variety of fields, like cartography and paleontology, wrote poems and composed songs. As a cartographer, he produced a large number of maps. Reference: Quirino, p. 106; Lietz, The Philippines in the 19th Century, p. 51. Condition: with creases as issued and often present with this large map, otherwise excellent.
