A collection bringing together two ?entertainments? written at the height of Greene's commercial success. The Third Man, originally written as an unpublished novella, and The Fallen Idol, first published as the short story The Basement Room in 1947, were adapted for film in 1949 and 1948 respectively, becoming noir classics in the truest sense and two of the most influential British films of the post-war era.
