Female Friend
The following ODE was composed on the death of a young man, who was supposed to be lost in a storm at sea, at the request of his Sister, by a Female Friend.
No publisher listed, Hartford, CT, 1810. One page printed broadside, measuring 36 x 25 cm (14.25" x 9.75"). Folded into fourths, with additional creasing to body of text, as well as numerous small tears, creases, and a few small chips to the edges. One small perforation at a fold, affecting three letters of the text. There is moderate foxing. Within ornamental border, printed in three columns. First line of text reads: O Thou, who on the mercy seat. No publisher, publishing place, or date listed. One copy listed on OCLC at Brown University gives the publishing plate as Hartford and the date as 1810 based on contemporary handwritten notes on their copy.
