Ecole De Mars Pour Apprendre Facilement La Fortifcation Selon La Methode De M. De Vauban. Par le sieur Dela Suze, gendarme de la garde du Roi.
Paris: Sr. De La Suze Gendarme de la Garde du Roy, 1719. Very Good, backed on acid free linen for long term preservation. Notes: An exceptional board game, this teaching of the art of the fortification comes in the form of a game of goose with 87 boxes. The only known copies correspond to a game of 52 boxes, a variant of the "Game of War" by G. de la Boissière (1697), much smaller dimensions (49 x 68, 1712 edition, 1720). Alternating boxes of text alone or associated with a figure, the game addresses attack and defense as well. At the center is the drawing of a fortress with several kinds of outdoors. In each corner is a decorative cartouche whose royal symbols have been carefully delineated. , Size : 813x1085 (mm), 32.01x42.72 (Inches), Coloring: Hand Colored, Category: Maps Misc (Curiosities, Title Pages, Games, etc.);
