A relatively scarce complete set of Florigraphia Britannica; or, Engravings and Descriptions of the Flowering Plants and Ferns of Britain together with Ferns of Britain, and their Allies: Comprising Equisetaceae, Filicaceae, Lycopodiaceae, and Marsileacea Written by Richard Deakin and illustrated with numerous engravings. In four volumes complete. First edition thus. Originally published in monthly parts from 1841-1848, and published in book form in 1857 with additional of descriptions of those plants which have been discovered or become naturalised since the Parts were published. With synopsises to front and indexes to rear of each volume and a supplement and a glossary to rear of volume three. Volume one has classes I to V; volume two has classes VI to XV; volume three has classes XVI to XXIII and volume four has class XXIV. With previous owner's ink annotation to front of volume one. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown to volume one. In cloth bindings. Externally, sound but with some wear to extremities, rubbing and slight marks to boards and institutional lettering to spine. Slight splitting to joints although generally firm. Two hinges strained, three tender. Internally, binding strained in places with some pages loosening to volume one. Bright but with occasional scattered spotting. Occasional handling marks and institutional stamps. Good
