Extremely scarce, private publication with the full transcript of all fourteen parts of the Czech radio play, Avantgarda bez Legend a Mytu. Avant-Garde without Legends and Myths was a series of radio plays broadcasted on Ceskoslovensky rozhlas (Czechoslovak Radio) between 1 March 1967 and 14 June 1967. Produced during the short liberalization period preceding the 1967 Writers' Congress and the beginning of the Prague Spring, the series aimed to reintroduce the earlier oppressed interwar-period avant-garde movements. It covered theatre, music, art and architecture with parts dedicated for example to the Devetsil group, Surrealism or the Czech writer, Vladislav Vancura (1891-1942). Among the many outstanding authors, artists, directors, and composers contributing to the radio play, there was the Nobel laureate Jaroslav Seifert (1901-1986), Avant-garde painters Adolf Hoffmeister (1902-1973), Jan Zrzavy (1890-1977) and Josef Sima (1891-1971), the filmmaker Jiri Menzel (1931-), the Czech actor, playwright and writer Jan Werich (1905-1980), and literature theoretician … [Click Below for Full Description]
