First edition of Cioran's first French book, inscribed to Pierre Klossowski. Précis de Décomposition was the first work of the Romanian-French philosopher, Emil Cioran (1911-1995 to be written in French and it was awarded the prestigious Rivarol Prize in 1950. This presentation copy is inscribed by the author to the French writer, translator and artist, Pierre Klossowski (1905-2001), brother of Balthus. Klossowski was in the French literary circle from a young age. He is known for his mainly homoerotic paintings as well as several philosophic writings, including Nietzsche and the Vicious Circle (1969), which greatly influenced French philosophers and was praised by Foucault, who said „It is the greatest book of philosophy I have ever read". The book includes a bookplate of French furniture designer, Jean-Bérenger de Nattes.
