Squier, E. G.
Nicaragua: Its People, Scenery, Monuments, and the Proposed Interoceanic Canal
Longman, Brown, Green, and Longmans, London, 1852. 2 volumes. 8vo. xxii,424; iv, 452pp. Quarter calf. Spines tooled in gilt, leather lettering labels, gilt. Marbled paper boards. Illustrated with plates; a folding frontispiece; two folding maps. One map misfolded leaving a bit of the right margin ragged but not affecting the image; some foxing and soiling especially affecting the plates; but overall a very good copy. With the bookplate of Hugh Craggs. Seaman Craggs missed out on accompanying Shackleton, but instead managed a voyage around the world in 1924. His fame rests mainly on a message dated 1924 that he left in a bottle which was discovered in the Galapagos Islands in 2018. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
