Confederate Imprint] JOURNAL OF THE PUBLIC AND SECRET PROCEEDINGS OF THE CONVENTION OF THE PEOPLE OF GEORGIA, Held in Milledgeville and Savannah in 1861. Together with the Ordinances Adopted.
Milledgeville, GA: Boughton, Nisbet & Barnes, 1861. Half Leather. near Very Good binding. Octavo. 416 pp. Originally issued in stitched self-wrappers, this copy is in a fairly attractive 20th century binding, backed in sheep with corners and marbled paper over boards, title in black on the spine. The title page and the last couple of leaves are heavily soiled and worn; contents are foxed and toned throughout. Nevins remarks that it contains, "Motions, resolutions, ordinances proposed, ordinances adopted, votes of delegates, but no record of debate" Nevins II, p. 221. An uncommon imprint that offers a great deal of material on the secession of Georgia and the outset of the Civil War. Parrish & Willingham 2768; Sabin 27061.
Bookseller: Michael Pyron, Bookseller, ABAA [United States]
