Blandsford and Inskeep, [Philadelphia, 1814. 1 vols. 14 x 11. Wilson is the Father of American ornithology. He was born and raised in Paisley, Scotland. American Ornithology was published the first seven volumes of his landmark work on American birds between 1808 and his death in 1813; the eighth and ninth volumes, edited by George Ord, completed the work in1814 with plates left finished by Wilson and text written by Ord from Wilson's notes.
