Rare Autographed Letter Signed
London, 1870. 4 pages (front and back) with each two-page spread measuring 7 x 9 inches, Rangers House, Greenwich, London, November 8, 1870, requesting a letter of recommendation for a friend who left England to practice law in Toronto and providing news about Queen Victoria's son Arthur, in part: ".Prince Arthur has rejoined his regiment and continues to do the same duty with these as he did in Montreal. We all look back with great pleasure to our visit to Canada, and the accounts the Prince has given of his visit have made people far better acquainted with the country than they had hitherto been. His photographs have been much admired, being superior both as regards scenery and portraits to anything one sees in England." Usual folds with a couple of minor stains; very good(-) condition. English soldier who was the recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award -- for gallantry in the face of the enemy -- that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.
