BELL, Clive.
Richmond: The Hogarth Press, 1921. Richmond: The Hogarth Press,, 1921. Octavo. Single quire hand sewn into red patterned stiff wrappers designed by Duncan Grant. With a marbled orange paper dust jacket not usually issued. Housed in custom dark blue cloth portfolio lettered in gilt, within a later matching cloth chemise and slipcase lettered in gilt to spine. Minute nicks to corners, the binding otherwise firm and clean, internally crisp. A fine copy in the fine jacket. First edition, sole impression, one of 350 unnumbered copies only, this one marked "not for sale" to front pastedown and found here with an early custom hand-marbled dust jacket, very much in the Hogarth style. This copy has a highly distinguished collectors' provenance, bearing the loosely inserted bookplate of Robert Reedman, associated with the Bloomsbury Group, and that of William Beekman on the front pastedown of the chemise. Much of Beekman's excellent Bloomsbury Group and Hogarth Press collection now forms part of the Berg Collection at the New York Public Library. Woolmer 12.
Bookseller: Peter Harrington [United Kingdom]
