(Folio) 37x26 cm (14x10") full calf with gilt borders, raised spine bands with gilt decorated compartments, spine labels lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. William Daniell RA was an English landscape and marine painter, and printmaker, notable for his work in aquatint. He traveled extensively in India in the company of his uncle Thomas Daniell, with whom he collaborated on one of the finest illustrated works of the period , "Oriental Scenery." His work was exhibited at the Royal Academy and the British Institution, and he became a Royal Academician in 1822. With decorative bookplates of Calvin Bullock, Wall Street financier, bibliophile.and promoter of the Anglo-American alliance during WWII. Some wear and scuffing to bindings with rubbing to extremities, Both volumes have been professionally rebacked. [Attributes: First Edition]
