DRACULA'S GUEST And Other Weird Stories
London: George Routledge and Sons, Ltd, 1914. First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with blind stamped titles and decoration to the upper board and gilt titles to the spine. A very good copy, the binding firm with a little rubbing and bumping at the extremities. The upper edge of the boards and the spine with a touch of fading and with a few light marks. The contents are entirely complete and without loose or torn pages. The pages with a little spotting to the prelims, more so to the closed text block edge are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. The front inner hinge is cracked but holding. All in all a decent example in original condition, of this cheaply produced volume which went through several reprints the first year of publication. Scarce thus. Bram Stoker's third collection of short stories, published two years after his death by his wife Florence who also contributes a preface. Comprising Dracula's Guest; The Judge's House; The Squaw; The Secret of the Growing Gold; A Gipsy Prophecy; The Coming of Abel Behenna; The Burial of the Rats; A Dream of Red Hands; Crooken Sands. The titular story is a hitherto unpublished chapter from Dracula. (Dalby p.67) Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request.
