London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1904. Duodecimo (150 x 96 mm). Finely bound by Bickers & Son (although not signed) in blue-green crushed morocco for Sylvia Alley, dated 18 October 1905 and with her name to front pastedown in gilt, titles in gilt direct to spine, raised bands, compartments richly gilt with floral motifs, intricate central wheel motif in gilt to boards, quartered and repeated in each corner, within double gilt fillet frames, turn-ins delicately tooled with motifs of moon crescent and flowers in gilt, central panel to pastedowns and free endpapers in white watered silk, all edges gilt. A hint of rubbing to extremities, discreet colour touch-ups, the binding otherwise sharp, faint water stain to upper edge of half-title, frontispiece, and title, else internally fresh and clean; an attractive copy. Lithographic frontispiece. A superbly bound copy of Tennyson's great Arthurian poetry cycle, first published between 1856 and 1885.
