Frances Bowyer Vaux
The Happy Travellers Or, a Trip to France For the Amusement of Young Persons
Darton, Harvey and Darton, London, 1817. A very scarce edition of this work by Frances Bowyer Vaux. Frances Bowyer Vaux is best known for her fictional work, Domestic Pleasures, which, similarly to The Happy Travellers is a Quaker inspired narrative aimed at children. All her works are extremely hard to obtain and this is one of the most difficult. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece. 4 pages of publisher's advertisements to the back. In a quarter green morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally, generally smart with some rubbing to boards and slight wear to extremities. Pencil and ink inscription dated 1820 to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright with some minor occasional spotting. Very Good Indeed [Attributes: Hard Cover]
