Day & Son, London, 1855. First edition thus. Three volumes. The magnum opus of this famous Scottish painter. Rev. George Croly wrote much of the text. This set was bound (or rebound) as a presentation copy for a noted Scottish minister, the Rev. David D.K. Drummond, upon his retirement in 1876 (see presentation page from Volume 1 in the attached images). Stamped binding, lightly bumped and losing some color on the spine. Ex Library, but the markings are minimal and limited to the front and rear endpapers. All the reproductions appear to be present. Heavy item. More images and/or description can be sent on request.
