London: London and North Eastern Railway, 1930. Lithograph in colours, printed by The Baynard Press. Measuring 102 x 64 cms. Linen backed. An excellent example of this highly attractive 1930 travel poster by one of the leading poster artists of the period Fred Taylor. The image is of Monk Bar with York Minster in the background, a stylish motor car and market stall in the foreground. The colours remain vivid and without fading. Mounted, framed and glazed (the frame measuring 108.5 x 72 cms) using museum quality UV glass and archival materials. Fred Taylor produced several posters of York for the LNER, this being the earliest of them. In the same year he was commissioned to design four ceiling paintings for the Underwriting Room at Lloyd's of London. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and other London galleries.
