Blanchard and Lea, Philadelphia, 1859. First American edition. Bound in full brown leather. Very Good with rubbing to binding, top of spine worn with short splits at to the top of the joints though binding remains solid. Spine darkened. Lightly penciled on the front free endpaper is the name J.T.F. Cummings, who was a Civil War Confederate Assistant Surgeon of the 68th Infantry Regiment. The first American publication of the illustrated medical anatomy text commonly referred to as "Gray's Anatomy." It's been updated and revised many times over the past 160 years, but remains the standard reference work on the subject of human anatomy to this day. [Attributes: First Edition]
