A Midsommer Nights Dreame.

Vellum soiled and endpapers stained but both possibly deliberate ageing of binding; two short closed tears to title page and peripheral nicks to first few leaves, contents lightly soiled again in possibly deliberate ageing. A very good copy. A sophisticated facsimile of the 1619 quarto of A Midsummer Night's Dream, the second printing of the play, which bore a false imprint date of 1600 (matching the date for the first quarto); here the date has been carefully replaced with the date 1601, without any evident reason, seeing as no edition was printed that year. The facsimile itself does not bear an edition statement or note of being a facsimile; stylistically it appears to date around the turn of the 20th century. For the original, see ESTC S111174.
