Over, Under, Around or Through; The Proud Sheriff; Paso Por Aqui. [1/1 - INSCRIBED and CORRECTED Special Edition]

Crussell, c. 1933] Three origin al issues of the Saturday Evening Post, bound in small folio, ½ burgundy leather and pebbled cloth, gilt titles and borders. Apri l 21,1917; Feb 20,1926; and October 1,1932. Sacramento bookseller Edward H. Crussell was a great fan of Rhodes and had these three issues bound by Sacramento bookbinders Silvius and Schoenbackler . He mailed the book to Rhodes for review. Rhodes responded wit h a full-page inscription: ####### “Dear Mr. Crussell: Your binding of this book is best possible evidence that you really li ke these yarns. I thank you. / Am correcting Paso Por Aqui - in t he volume “Once in the Saddle”. Not correcting “Over Under Around and Through.” The only copy I have is the English editi on, wherein mistakes of American edition were eleminated. [sic] A nd I haven’t strength to read it over, closely, watching for er rors. This yarn was published in book form, under the title Copp er Streak Trail - to my sorrow. If they had made it “Copper Hil l Trail” I would have been better pleased. / Personally, I like d Robteelee Carr, I was well aquainted [sic] with that Lad. / In the Proud Sheriff” I have made one correction - in chapter VIII . My mistake entirely. There was no empty shell. All was [sic], t he cylinder had been turned so that the first attempt to shoot wo uld bring the hammer down on an empty cylinder.
