Based on the adult comic book by Jean-Claude Forest and published in the French magazine V in 1962 and 1964.Jane Fonda's classic role in "Barbarella," an adult SciFi Alice in an out-of-this-world Wonderland, remains likely the most campy space-opera sex comedy in film history. Though not popular upon its release, it was re-released to greater acclaim in 1977, and is now so iconic that it has taken Fonda decades to live down the role. "Barbarella" has since influenced countless fashion designers, films, and musicians, including Duran Duran, whose name is a play on that of the main villain.
