Lake Errock, British Columbia, 1958. A collection of photographs from the golden age of American nudist colonies of the modern naturist movement. The collection includes a total of 136 images, most or all of which appear to have been taken at the Sunny Trails Club, a nudist camp at Lake Errock, located in the heart of Fraser Valley near Vancouver, British Columbia. The collection consists of 56 black and white 8" x 10" enlargements and five contact sheets showing 47 images printed from 2 1/4" negatives and 33 images from 35 mm negatives. All are near fine, and there appear to be no duplicated images among the enlargements and the contact sheets. It's likely the photographs were taken during a conference or retreat bringing together at least 14 different naturist groups. In one photo showing a nude woman with a hat, she is pointing to a welcome sign listing 14 naturist organizations active in this era, ranging from Air-A-Tans, a nudist travel club from Long Beach, California, to Samagatuma, a nudist club based in San Diego. The images also show a nude family standing in front of a banner bearing the logo of the American Sunbathing Association (ASA). Another banner appears on a stage, likely for a beauty pageant, that reads: "Aloha WSA"(Western Sunbathing Association). The collection also features snapshots and informal portraits of various small groups of nude men, women, and their families, taken both outdoors at the lake and on nearby fields, and inside a recreational building.
