Nevertheless, this publication offers also a section with short news from "all over the world", among them one of the first printed news on the 1683 Attack on Veracruz, and the death of one of the perpetrators, the Dutch pirate Nicholas van Hoorn (c. 1635-1683); the outset of the War of the Reunions (1683-84); and of the death of Louis, Count of Vermandois, the eldest surviving son of Louis XIV of France, on 18 November 1683 in Courtray.The longest section, the conclusion of the Gaceta is the translation of the oration of the commander of the armies of the Holy Roman Empire and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, John III Sobieski of Poland, before the decisive siege against the Turks on 12 September 1683, later known as the Battle of Vienna.Gazettes appeared in Spain in the 17th century, the first issues of Gaceta Nueva (Gaceta de Madrid) were published in 1661-2.
