Rowling, J.K.
(London): Bloomsbury, 1997. First edition in first state wrappers. Fine. Incredibly scarce first printing of the first book in the Harry Potter series, the softcover issue with all correct points, rarely seen in this condition. The Harry Potter series, about a boy who goes to a wizard school, has been the biggest literary phenomenon of our lifetime. The books remain formative for millions, including the many readers who reject Rowling's transphobic statements. While the simultaneously published hardcover issue is notoriously rare (with only 500 copies printed), the softcover issue is also notably scarce: only a few thousand copies were printed, and due to the nature of the printing, few survive in collectible condition. Copies appear with some regularity on the market, but we have not seen one as pristine as this copy in many years. 7.75'' x 5''. Original color pictorial paper wrappers. "Philosopher's" misspelled on rear wrapper; "Joanne" printed on copyright page; "1 wand" repeated on page 53. 223, [1] pages. Just a hint of a bump to corners; faintest toning to text block edges, as typical. Otherwise bright, clean, unmarked.
