No copy at the Getty nor at the National Gallery of Art in Washington.A magnificent copy with all the plates in a glorious contemporary hand-colouring heightened with liquid gold.The album commemorates the 1782 entrance into Venice by the Crown Prince Pavel Petrovich and Grand Duchess Maria Fedorovna, under the name of Count and Countess of the North (Severnj). The couple took a trip to Europe, between 1781 and 1782 visiting fourteen countries. They traveled almost the entire meridian of the Habsburgs, the Spanish and French Bourbons - the new allies to the Russian Empire since 1782. This journey had a decisive influence on the artistic tastes and preferences of the future Tsar.In mid-June 1781, by mutual agreement of Empress Catherine with Pavel Petrovich and Maria Fedorovna, it was decided that Their Highnesses would travel to Europe in accordance with the plan drawn by the Empress. The retinue that was supposed to accompany the high travelers were appointed: General N.I. Saltykov with his wife, Colonel H.I. Benkendorf with his wife, who was a close friend of Maria Fedorovna, Prince A. B. Kurakin, childhood friend of Pavel Petrovich, Prince N. B.
