1708. ELABORATELY CONCEIVED AND DEPICTED SUNDIALSIllustrated with around 170 drawings and some tables in brown ink, sometimes in red. Considerable care has been taken to present the manuscript in striking decorative guise, without distracting from its scientific purpose. Many of the drawings with dark brown or azure blue wash backgrounds, some with different shades of grey wash, many in architectural settings, some ruins, some with vegetation or figurative, a few of these elaborate with figures in shades of yellow and blue, two with volvelles. Some scientific calculations are shown in a glorious trompe-d 'oil effect with the curling paper lying on brown wash background with dark and light shadow effects.Oblong 4to (158 x 205 mm). 170 leaves (including 7 blank leaves; but seemingly lacking 3 leaves (one before f. 3, one before f. 6, with a further stub between ff. 101 and 102)).
